A Poem

"A Knight Never Stands Alone"

The poet settles through the hall at night.
He joins within the scattered talking there.
His lute and harp are strung to ease the fright
Reminding sons and brothers what they dare.

The heroes from the past do live again
With legend for their blood and fame their name.
Cold weapons hot with purpose do begin
To pulse with passion for the daylight game.

Around the hall, the hounds of battle stay.
And, with the night, lay quiet for the now.
Come dawn, all thought of else will shattered be
But now, in dreams, their fear does furrow brow.

The harper plays to give them strength and cause.
The morrow sees him sing with what he draws.

done Shakespearean Sonnet, 14 lines in three stanzas of four lines and a couplet. Rime abab, cdcd, efef, gg. Meter: Iambic Pentameter (u^u^u^u^u^).

Friends whose Mantle
....... Gives us Cheer
You, whose fate now
....... Joins with mine
Celebrate now,
........ Dance and Dine.
Toast together
........ "Friends away"
Heartfelt ever
........ There to stay.
Raise your chalice
........ and your voice
Give good service
........ and rejoice.
With our toasting
........ Let's recall
Friends worth boasting
..... One and all."

But weak at least & lost of course.

But Never Trusted, Never Heard.

No inspiration to his being.

Unable to keep Wrongs from Rights.

What is a Knight without a Chain? too a loo a loo a lay
No fealty to give or claim.

What is a Knight without a King? too a loo a loo a lay
But sad, a fighter with nothing.

What is a Knight without a Squire? too a loo a loo a lay
But like a voice without a choir.

Now, what is a Knight who these command? too a loo a loo a lay
But one who tries to serve The Land.
